About the Role

In your role you will:

  • Provide global legal advice and support for transactions primarily in the following areas: bank trade finance & infrastructure, surety, credit and political risk insurance.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory review of transactions (draft documents, negotiate the terms), instructing and managing outside counsel (as needed).
  • Facilitate the closing of transactions and support clients during implementation, restructuring and unwind of transactions.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients and outside law firms.
  • Provide legal support for new product development and general marketing efforts, as needed.
  • Support internal group projects and strategic initiatives, as needed.
  • Conduct and/or arrange internal presentations and trainings on legal topics.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory trends affecting relevant business areas.

About the Team

This is a full-time position in a distributed team that provides legal support to the areas of credit and surety and selected asset management matters. We work closely with underwriters, marketers, product managers, risk managers, and claims specialists. Our client is a global business team, committed to delivering value and innovative solutions in the primary insurance space. In our team, you will be close to decision makers and directly see the results of your work.

About You

We are looking for you if you:

  • Display a "can do" attitude, are dedicated and put the client first
  • Have a Swiss or German law degree with a minimum of six years’ experience, preferably in bank trade finance and/or, credit, surety and political risk, and/or primary insurance area and/or banking/lending area with a law firm or international financial institution/insurance company.
  • Have experience and understanding of regulatory and licensing topics in cross-border scenarios
  • Speak and write in English and Germany fluently, other languages is a plus.
  • Enjoy working independently and handling multiple requests and deadlines.

  • You identify and report legal risks, provide professional advice, expertise and guidance, and apply sound judgement and counsel beyond the dimensions of laws and regulations
  • You are a trusted business partner, who manages relationships and communicates legal and compliance concepts clearly and succinctly
  • You possess excellent drafting, negotiation and influencing skills and can manage legal and compliance related matters
  • You openly share assumptions, beliefs, values and thought process in reaching conclusions and are receptive to constructive challenge, are willing to learn, self-reflective, and collaborative
  • You take responsibility for progress and/or outcomes, apply a measured appetite for risk, and plan ahead to deliver workable solutions
