Job Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the management of shipments of material to Li-Cycle facilities both in Europe and North America and management of designated warehousing and distribution functions at the organization’s future warehouse facilities. This includes scheduling of inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures and management of cross-border notification processes. The Logistics Manager will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage and schedule the reception, handling, distribution, and storage of designated freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of corporate warehouses
  • Manage the regulatory process for cross-border transportation of waste
  • Ensure all inbound lithium-ion batteries and outbound materials are shipped in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties
  • Prepare and maintain all shipping documentation including Bill of Lading (BOLs), manifests and other required documents for regulated products
  • Plan warehouse locations, layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization
  • Develop and/or enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment
  • Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, or equipment
  • Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action
  • Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters; make adjustments where necessary
Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct work experience in a warehouse position
  • 3+ years of managerial experience
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management
  • Direct knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other safety systems
  • Direct knowledge of hazardous waste shipping regulations and notification procedures
  • Familiar with enterprise-level track-and-trace systems, as well as implementation experience
  • Experience in managing third-party logistics providers
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation, with good writing skills
  • Ability to interpret and act upon complex instructions
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent planning and resource allocation skills
Working Conditions
  • Some travel may be required
  • Able to physically inspect company property and assets
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
