KPMG’s strategy team in Zurich has grown phenomenally since its establishment 7 years ago. Embedded into KPMG’s Global Strategy Group (GSG) network, the Zurich office has quickly developed into one of the fastest-growing teams within the KPMG network. As an engagement manager at GSG in Switzerland, you will be a critical contributor to the team’s continued aggressive growth agenda over the coming years, which will offer exciting career opportunities for the successful applicant.

Your contribution to KPMG
  • Manage strategy projects end-to-end, across a range of GSG core propositions, such as buy-side and sell-side M&A strategy (e.g. commercial due diligence, operational due diligence, separation/carve-out due diligence, synergy assessments), growth strategy (organic and inorganic) or sustainability strategy. In your role as engagement manager, you will be our clients’ key contact on a day-to-day basis, reporting directly to the responsible project partner
  • Manage a team of (Senior) Consultants on a project and make the team thrive. Outside of projects, contribute to the personal development of our consultants through mentoring and coaching
  • Manage client relationships with top management stakeholders in an international environment
  • Provide high-quality deliverables, respecting deadlines and monitoring budget costs while executing projects
  • Contribute to our commercial success by identifying business development opportunities and by preparing and pitching proposals

This is what makes you successful
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top-tier university with a consistent outstanding academic record; certificates in quantitative disciplines (e.g. engineering, economics, science, etc.) preferred
  • 5+ years professional experience in strategy consulting (MBBs, Big 4 or leading boutique), in-house business development/strategy functions, or general business management, with evidence of high performance and extraordinary professional achievements
  • Demonstrated project experience with commercial due diligence, operational due diligence, carve-out/separation due diligence, growth strategy, sustainability strategy etc.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects as well as profitability
  • Strong ability to synthesize heterogenous sources of information (qualitative and quantitative) into a coherent narrative and communicate it succinctly to C-level stakeholders
  • Strong functional understanding of at least one of the key industries of the Swiss economy (e.g. industrial manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, FMCG, financial services) and strong general business acumen
  • Strong understanding of the links between operational and financial topics in a deal context
  • Intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness, paired with a willingness to take (calculated) risks and which does not fear "speaking truth to power"
  • Ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines and with top management stakeholders
  • Fluent in English, other languages are an advantage (especially German, French or Italian)
  • Nice to have: Demonstrated ability to contribute to new business development; ideally with existing client relationships in the Swiss market

Your future team

GSG in Switzerland works with companies across sectors, primarily on deal strategy, growth strategy, and sustainability strategy.

On deal strategy projects, we generally work on international transactions worth several hundred million to several billion dollars, teaming up internationally with other KPMG teams across the globe.

On growth strategy projects, our work focuses on life science companies (commercialization of new treatments), Swiss SMEs and start-ups.

On sustainability engagements, we support clients from a regulatory, reporting and overall strategic point of view.
