At ONWARD we’re looking for a Manufacturing Technician to join our team.

About the job

The Manufacturing Technician will perform many of the tasks required to assemble, test, pack and ship the company’s products to customers all over the world. This includes unpacking, stocking, testing, repacking, labelling, and shipping duties, along with all required record keeping. This is an on-site position in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, unpack and distribute incoming shipments.
  • Work closely with Quality counterpart for incoming inspections and follow up any non-conformity actions such as quarantine stock, R&D investigation, supplier reporting, etc.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Monitor and control minimum stock levels to guarantee forecasted production.
  • Work closely with our procurement team to anticipate any shortages and to place order in a timely manner.
  • Perform assembly, tests and packing according to detailed procedures and work instructions.
  • Printing labels and markings for parts and shipments (Zebra printing experience advantageous).
  • Execute work orders and system builds as per latest bill of materials (BOM).
  • Initiative to improve current or new process flow, and work instructions.
  • Prepare shipment boxes, forms, and records.
  • Work with shipment providers to transfer outbound/inbound shipments.
  • Update paper and computer records of activities.
  • Support internal and external audits of all work product.
  • Organize workday and week to achieve required output.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements.
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding status of shipments.
  • Manage stock of consumables, such as packing materials, labels, paper, etc.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and monitor any production equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly.
  • Problem solving and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, process inefficiencies, or other issues that arise during production. Implement corrective actions to resolve problems and minimize downtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About you

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years experience as Manufacturing Technician in the industry
  • Technical exposure to basic assembly and tests
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office components of Word and Excel
  • Electronics and/or mechanical BOMs understanding
  • Experience with inventory control computer systems preferred, Microsoft dynamics or Business Central experience a plus
  • Familiar with medical devices quality systems and regulations advantageous
  • Extreme attention to detail in all activities
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
