Position and Responsibility
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for aircraft cabin furnishings (e.g. galleys, baggage bins, cabinets, side-ledges, tables, interior doors, seats and divan arrangements, armrests, upholstery, lavatories, decorative panels, carpet, etc…)
  • Support the Manager Mechanical Design Engineering to develop working methods to ensure an efficient work flow
  • Ensure correct consideration and application of Certification Basis, Rules and Regulations, Means of Compliance and Interpretations
  • Ensure adequate communication and liaison internally, especially with the Engineering Teams as well as with external Third Parties.
Key Aspects of the Activity
  • Review interior design specifications and create manufacturing assembly and installation mechanical drawings
  • Selection of equipment, components and materials
  • Generate working prototypes for testing and customer demonstration
  • Create system definitions and specifications, test plans and reports
  • Preparation of engineering design standards
  • Preparation of installation instructions and test procedures
  • Achieve light and cost saving mechanical design solutions
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar qualification within aviation
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer or 5 years shop floor experience, preferable within aviation / cabinet design
  • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar
  • Computer literate with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proactive Team player with good communication skills in English; German or French in addition will be an advantage
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety
