SQL Server DBA

Experis IT Switzerland is currently on the search for an experienced SQL ServerDBA to join one of their clients, a well renowned Swiss Bank. For this contract engagement based in Zürich, we are seeking an English speaker who is immediately available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances and databases.
  • Monitor system health and performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions are in place and functioning correctly.
  • Perform regular database backups and restores, as well as database security configurations.
  • Collaborate with developers and other team members to optimize database queries, schema design, and overall system performance.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to database-related incidents in a timely manner.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA).
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of database security concepts and best practices.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL scripting and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Familiarity with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft SQL Server certification (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics).
  • Experience with other database platforms such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions such as Azure SQL Database or Amazon RDS.
    • Experience with database migration projects and upgrades.
