Presentation

The Institute of Sport Sciences of the University of Lausanne (ISSUL) is a centre of excellence in the fields of training and research in sports sciences. It has more than 80 researchers and 600 Bachelor, Master and PhD students working on multiple themes in the field of sport.

ISSUL is calling for a position of :Post-DoctoralAssistant in Sports Medicine / Cardiovascular Medicine (“Premier·ère Assistant·e en Médecine du Sport / Médecine Cardiovasculaire”)

Job information

Starting date: September 1, 2023 (or to be agreed)

Contract duration: 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

Activity rate: 100%

Workplaces: Dorigny (Synathlon) and Department of Cardiology / Sports Medicine (CHUV / Bugnon)

Gross annual salary: CHF 81’120.-, increasing each year according to the scale

Your responsibilities

50% of the time is spent on your research work. Specifically, work will aim to study cardiovascular adaptations to acute or chronic exercise in healthy and clinical populations, and will include various models ranging from cell to human. The rest of the time is devoted to teaching and supervising doctoral students/masters under the responsibility of the teacher in charge.

Your qualifications

Doctor of Sports Sciences or Medicine with skills and expertise in cardiovascular physiology (stress tests, echocardiography, measurement of vascular function, applied biochemistry).

Good knowledge of human performance measurement techniques and basic knowledge of cardiovascular physiology determining human performance, and common forms of cardiovascular disease in athletes and highly active healthy subjects.

Fluency in French (compulsory) and English (preferred)

Host laboratory

The host laboratory is fully equipped for the evaluation of cardiovascular function in humans and shares the expertise and equipment of the departments of cardiology and sports medicine (imaging platforms, human performance laboratory, biochemistry platforms), where the successful candidate will be mainly based.
