EHS Lead

Due to our continued growth, we are now hiring an EHS Specialist for our EHS Team based in Lachen, Switzerland.
This position is part of a team responsible for Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) and Transportation of Hazardous Material activities at a major complex of facilities. The role provides Health, Safety and Environmental training and instruction, assists with the promotion of environmental health & safety policies, procedures & operational practices, provides advice and assists in environmental health & safety projects within their area of competency.
Main responsibilities:
  • Localize and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance, meet the company ESMS (Environmental and Social Management System) standards, and promote positive movement against EHS KPIs.
  • Work with EHS colleagues and business partners to implement programs at multiple sites or target needs at their assigned sites.
  • Participate in internal audits or as a member of a site being audited. Assist with follow-up and closure of action items from audits.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training and partner with colleagues and site personnel to update training in response to new legal requirements or changes at the site.
  • Review information sources for new and/or changes to relevant laws, rules, and regulations and notify senior EAS staff.
  • Carry out inspections of site operations and investigate incidents to develop recommendations for hazard elimination or control.
  • Support employee-led teams such as Safety Committees, Green Teams, and Behavior-Based Safety Teams.
  • Gather, analyse and evaluate data for local and global reporting and as input for improvement processes.
  • Maintain competency and stay current in the profession of EHS and the Transportation of Hazardous Materials.
  • May participate as a Global Process Owner (GPO) group member focused on a particular program area to drive enhancements and consistency across ELC.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar in Environmental Science, Safety Science, Engineering, or other Science/Technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Safety, health, hazardous Materials, machinery Safety, or Environmental Affairs, preferably in manufacturing operations.
  • Preferred certifications: Specialist for Occupational Safety and Health (ASGS), NEBOSH International Diploma, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar designations or working towards such certification.
  • Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team in diverse work environments from manufacturing, distribution, labs, and offices.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to adjust communication style based on the situation and the audience.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in a particular field of specialization. Ability to understand and communicate technical, environmental, and safety requirements to EHS staff and our business partners.
  • Ability to work independently with periodic supervision.
  • Good PC skills to manipulate and present data.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with Swiss Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
  • Fluent in MS Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint applications.
  • Full professional proficiency in German and English.
