Position Summary


Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. We are looking for a Food Safety Specialist, to ensure that products and R&D prototypes developed at Nestlé Research are safe by design and to support Nestle Research food safety management system.

A Day in the Life of a Food Safety Specialist


  • Provide support to projects (Science and Technology, Accelerator, Clinical trials), ensuring Quality and Food Safety by Design and timely delivery of key information/documents
  • Identify, report, manage/mitigate, escalate food safety or quality risks and issues
  • Perform root cause analysis, in case of non-conformities
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the food safety management system (e.g. by performing internal audits)
  • Provide training on quality and food safety topics to project managers, project team members and site personnel as per needed
  • Promote a food safety mindset to strengthen the robustness of the innovation/renovation process


What will make you successful


  • 3-5 years’ experience in an R&D or factory environment
  • Applied science university graduate or equivalent (preferred chemistry, biology, food science or technology)
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in HACCP
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams in a research context
  • Fluent in English, French is a plus
