Main goal:
The Game and Player Insights Analyst is responsible for coordinating the performance analysis and insight service, which aims to identify technical and tactical trends across all UEFA competitions (men’s, women’s and youth) to make sure that UEFA is at the forefront of technical and tactical analysis.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive and develop UEFA’s technical and tactical frameworks with the aim of capturing actionable technical and tactical insights at the individual and team level;
- Collate and visually represent metrics informing best practices and trend analyses across all UEFA competitions;
- Contribute to key internal and external research projects underpinning future technical and tactical benchmarks and winning strategies in UEFA competitions;
- Build and maintain close and highly effective working relationships with internal and external partners by capturing, visualising and contextualising input to create meaningful tactical insights;
- Produce data, video and educational reports and resources for UEFA’s member associations to support their coaching and coach development efforts;
- Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet the changing priorities of UEFA’s Performance Analysis team.
Profile:
Experience required:
- From 4 to 6 years’ working as a game and player insights analyst or a performance analyst in the elite football environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s in sports science, sports performance analysis or a related subject
Languages:
- English / Proficient
Additional requirements:
- MS Office / Advanced
- Understanding of how to underpin performance analysis with evidence-based research
- Ability to design dashboards using analytics software (e.g., Hudl SportsCODE, Tableau, Power BI and Keynote)
- Ability to manipulate and extract a wide range of different event data sets (e.g. OPTA F24, Statsbomb, Wyscout)
- Ability to manipulate and extract tracking data (e.g. Hawk-Eye, Trackab)
- Proficient skills working with various analysis and video telestration software
- Excellent tactical knowledge and an understanding of the correlation between individual and collective data, coupled with the ability to extract insights in relation to the subjective context
- Integrity demonstrated in behaviour and action as a foundation for building trustful and honest relationships
- Willingness and ability to work under the high pressure, especially over period of 4 months between April-July
- Resilience to deal with setbacks and challenges
- Willingness to travel and being away from home for the duration of the tournaments
