Responsibilities
To set out and deliver on the strategy you cover a variety of activities, such as:
  • Monitor implementation and report progress to the group executive committee and board of directors, based on the global reporting approach defined with finance, reporting specialists and countries.
  • Develop standards, procedures and guidance supporting the business on delivering on the strategy; work with functions to embed human rights due diligence in the business (e.g., M&A, internal audit, sustainable procurement, security, compliance, legal, communication, HSE, human resources, risk management and others).
  • Report on compliance with regulatory standards and frameworks, keeping abreast of changes in regulations and advising the business on new or adapted processes/projects to stay compliant on this fast-changing regulatory landscape.
  • Develop new and innovative social initiatives that are linked to Holcim’s core business to create social impact at scale, primarily on affordable housing and infrastructure, health, education and skills development.
  • Collaborate with Communications to communicate on human rights and social initiatives, including through the integrated annual report, stories of progress, webpages and social media. Represent the company as a speaker at external events and engage with stakeholders on human rights and social impact, including investors, analysts, rating agencies, financial institutions and NGOs.
  • Proactively manage matters together with a cross-functional team and country management teams.
  • Partner with relevant external stakeholders (non-governmental organizations - NGOs, industry players, thought leaders, other organizations in other industries) to create broad awareness and mobilize Holcim’s efforts externally. Engage proactively with UN and international organizations, government institutions and other relevant stakeholders at global / HQ level.
  • Develop and successfully deliver stakeholder engagement plans in accordance with the overarching Sustainability and stakeholder engagement strategies and measure success of stakeholder engagement and partnerships. Support countries and sustainability experts (climate, nature, sustainable construction) with their own stakeholder engagement strategy.
Education/Qualifications
  • Degree in higher education, minimum at bachelor’s level, preferably a master’s degree in business administration, economics, international law or strategy
Experience
  • 10+ years demonstrated experience of human rights due diligence, social impact and stakeholder engagement strategies in a global corporate environment
  • Good network and working experience with NGOs and other organizations active in the sustainability field
Knowledge & Skills
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills, highly articulate team player
  • Results driven and focused to make things happen
  • Self-driven, ability to drive change with a sense of urgency, ability to challenge the status quo and drive new ways of strategy implementation - able to work independently and manage your own program
  • Strong communication skills, with presence and flair to connect with internal and external stakeholders of all levels (including C-level executives) and backgrounds; excellent report writing, able to prepare responses/narrative quickly and clearly, presentation and training skills
  • Work and multi-task under pressure, respond quickly to changing situations in complex project environments
  • Strong project management and people management skills - to motivate and bring people together to jointly achieve objectives, lead a small corporate team as well as a global network of experts
Language Requirements
Fluent in English. German language skills would be a plus.
