Why we are recruiting
To complete our Legal & Compliance team, we are looking for an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial Legal and Compliance professional who will be responsible for supporting the various initiatives of the WEF, leading the development, implementation, and continued improvement of the Forum’s legal support and compliance strategies as well as ensuring a strong partnership and alignment with other functions.
This position is based out of our headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and would require you to relocate to Geneva if you are not based there.
More specifically, you will:
  • Contribute to and drive the strategy of the Legal & Compliance function; where appropriate/required implement, tailor & adjust to the risk specific compliance programs.
  • Advise & support the various platforms and centers of the WEF; including reviewing and negotiating agreements, proposing simplifications, and ensuring necessary controls and processes are in place.
  • In particular provide continued support in matters pertaining to: intellectual property, data privacy, IT security and Virtual Reality, antibribery and financial crime prevention, competition law, sanctions and economical restrictions, board secretary, labor law, foundations and non-profit organizations, grant management and donor requirements, tax law, and conflict of interest mitigation.
  • Develop and drive a strategy in collaboration with peers to ensure self, team members, and the function overall stay abreast of regulations, jurisprudence, best practices, and innovations.
We would expect you to have:
  • A University degree in Law, Compliance (and/or related field) at least at Master Level;
  • Subject matter expertise gained through three-to-five-year experience in at least two areas and willingness to further develop two other areas: competition law, antibribery & human rights, global trade compliance, sanctions and economical restrictions, data privacy, intellectual property, labor law, grant management and donor requirements, foundations and non-profit organizations, and commercial law.
  • Experience (more than three years) of working in ethics, integrity, compliance, law, or related areas in a complex, matrixed, multicultural, and multijurisdictional environment.
  • High proficiency in English and ideally in at least two other languages;
You should be able to demonstrate the following skills:
  • We need someone who excels in listening, has strong influencing and negotiation skills, is able to roll up the sleeves to drive the implementation of agile and pragmatic solutions, and naturally communicates effectively and concisely.
  • You will have experience working in multiple countries, with a proven and diverse cultural understanding that adds to your already excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in advising leadership is vital.
  • You will enjoy working collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team environment with a wide variety of personnel, across the broader organization on a varied range of matters, and flourish in a dynamic and high energy environment.
