Your ‘day to day’

Support LS (life Science) Finance BP and advise LS team on strategic and operational decision-making through insights that drive better business performance

Individual Accountabilities

Support Finance BP, functional counterparts, and entrepreneurs in

• Co-pilot with PMI’s science team to achieve new sales target of $1 bio and $5 bio new sales by 2025 and 2030, respectively.
• Supporting and influencing key operational and strategic decisions with independent and data driven insights on time to development, sizing of development investment and commercial benefits
• Interpreting, explaining, and driving investment performance with keen attention on portfolio management, risk/return profile & tracking of pipeline
• Aligning capacity and demand as well as assessing Business Development scenarios
• Validating key financial assumptions, go/no-go decision points and opportunities
• Rank & prioritize our portfolio to improve sales growth objectives / return on investment
• Providing ad-hoc analysis and monitor
  

Guardian of PMI Resources – Global Cost Management (SP5 Achieve Cost & Cash Leadership)

• Help achieve delivery within PMI cost target
• Create data driven insights to influence key operational and strategic decisions
• Design and support implementation of smart cost strategies and targets to enable optimization of resource allocation across regions/markets/functions
• Support cost management governance and standardization of processes
• Validate key assumptions, trade-offs and opportunities to hit the bottom line
  

Support Functions’ Strategy Development

• Establish financial plans/models which support function strategy and regional priorities including mid-long term (e.g. 1-3 years)
• Assist with and constructively challenge quantification of new opportunities (sizing) and risks
• Establish and nurture/expand key relationships with contract manufacturing organization (CMO) / contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), contract research organization (CRO), as well as contract sales organizations(CSO)
• Experience in a life sciences setting, Corporate roles and knowledge of broad array of investment levers required to grow business.
• Cultivates an environment where all contributors feel valued and part of an enterprise with a common purpose and goals
• Understands the commercial requirements in new product development. Working knowledge of pharmaceutical products development process and key breakthroughs that would trigger investment decisions
• Demonstrated experience in assessing global development products of diverse types and in various phases of development including previous experience in submission preparation, including IND and NDA submission processes
• A working understanding of the requirements for Regulatory Submissions
  

Provide Financial Mentorship

• Business decision support and modeling to optimize growth and value. Models will demonstrate monte carlo simulations, examine risk/reward potential of future new indicates/product extensions and use sound modeling for valuation
• Modeling will include but is not limited to scenarios, option-value that examines qualitative and quantitative valuation techniques and alignment of investment with PMI’s Beyond Nicotine Strategy
• Accountable for demonstrating the financial plan to enable the successful launch of products to an agreed timeline and budget
• Define critical success factors in projects, return on investment of initiatives, budget allocation, risk evaluation – Constructively challenge opportunity sizing
• Challenge functional counterparts to improve financial performance, and enable creation of innovative solutions to optimize resources
• Support investment decisions as Finance lead in projects, defining metrics and targets - Support go/no-go project decisions (stage/gate PBO)
• Assist with creation of key business planning assumptions, trade-offs and opportunities build business scenarios
• Research to identify trends and patterns to maximize return on investment
• Participate & support Business Development activities as required (e.g. M&A projects)
  

Financial Planning, Forecasting and Monitoring

• Support finance cycles management (OB/RF) for the function
• Assist with forecast adjustments and analysis of deviations, drive follow-ups
• Build best-fit solution options to drive resources allocation decisions
• Enable continuous monitoring of P&L forecasts; propose changes of course of actions; financial analysis and insights, incl. ad-hoc reporting
