About the Role
This internship is an exciting opportunity within the Agriculture Underwriting team. During the internship, you will work closely with the team on a new market costing model for better underwriting decisions and insights. You will play an integral part in driving this project forward that which will offer different growth opportunities.
This role will focus on model development; however, the Agriculture team remains flexible with its resources and the candidate may support the team on upcoming business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
You will work with market underwriters to develop a new market costing model using insurance, climate as well as yield data.
Your role will be to enhance, extend and manage the operational implementation of the model.
You will work closely with the team to enhance the model and drive implementation.
Your Opportunity:
The opportunity to gain deep insights and hands on experience in Agriculture Underwriting and to be directly in contact with in- and external stakeholders.
You gain experience in key agriculture reinsurance markets.
About the Team
You will work as part of a strong and diverse global team of more than 30 Agriculture reinsurance specialists based in Mumbai, Beijing, Zurich, Cape Town, Singapore, Mexico and Sao Paulo.
About You
Technical skills and education:
B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. studies in quantitative natural sciences, actuarial sciences, or equivalent, good mathematical background as a minimum
Strong analytical and programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab, R), track record of successful model development; experience with statistics and dependent probabilities (copulas) is a plus
Strong project management, communication, and presentation skills
Excellent written and oral English, additional languages are a plus
Personal skills and interests:
High degree of own initiative and interest for interdisciplinary work
You approach problems with curiosity and flexibility, are a fast learner and eager to take responsibility
Ready to live ownership and curious in how your insights impact underwriting decisions
Independent and curious mindset
