Together, we’re pioneering the future of science and medicine, developing products that enable researchers in the fight to save lives.What You’ll DoThe Protein Research Business Unit (BU) Leader is accountable for the growth and profitability of the Protein Research portfolio. The incumbent would act as a business GM with the primary measure of success being Core Growth in addition to all other CVD’s (Core Value Drivers) with many of these responsibilities being governed through indirect leadership of some functions in the value chain or shared services. The Protein Research BU Leader sets strategy and directs the business unit to ensure the attainment of financial and operational goals in support of the OpCo, Platform, and DHR’s overall financial and strategic objectives. This role has direct responsibility to:
  • Develop and implement short and long-term strategies to support existing products, launch new products and develop future business to enable the company to exceed financial and market share objectives.
  • Lead product development and product rationalization planning and implementation activities in line with strategic analysis of market segments and voice of customer ("VOC") data.
  • Own commercial performance and achievement of sales targets for BU
  • Oversee value proposition generation and product / portfolio strategic positioning
  • Identify, prioritize, design and manage the delivery of products based on impact to the business.
  • Develop and champion product requirements and justifications for new products and service offerings.
  • Be a key stakeholder in NPD projects successfully driving them from beginning to end with the cross-functional project team.
  • Drive portfolio innovation. Identify new business opportunities including new offerings to optimize and enhance the portfolio.
  • Define the competitive landscape and develop training information to clearly articulate the category value proposition.
  • Create processes to benchmark customer value, competitive marketing activities, and competitive product comparisons.
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to commercialize the product portfolio.
  • Own top-line and gross margin for newly launched products.
  • Provide in-depth market, industry and competitive analysis and product positioning.
  • Set and maintains pricing strategies, managing and improving profit margins for products.
  • Provides training and expert advice to sales, marketing, customers and other field employees on products as required. Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop sales tools and training.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop innovative marketing programs, web site content development, campaigns, promotional support programs and company collateral
  • Develop and play a role in delivering presentations for all levels of management as well as for other internal and external audiences.
  • Responsible for talent management to ensure the continued development for direct reports
  • Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals.
  • Deploy Learning & Development and Product training programs to build the product leaders of the future
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, relevant Life Sciences, Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
  • Master’s Degree, Ph.D. or equivalent in related life sciences discipline preferred.
  • +10 years of progressive product/business management in Life Sciences and/or industry including four years people leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, coaching, team building and influencing skills with proven ability to drive and manage change initiatives in a matrixed environment (empowering others to lead)
  • Strong business acumen, financial, organizational and relationship building skills.
  • Clear/strategic thinker with the ability to create commercial product execution plans and then have the tenacity to execute well.
  • Ability to energize, develop and build rapport, collaborate and influence at all levels within an organization. Act as inspirational leader with optimism, highly approachable and humble.
  • Experience of Protein Research Workflow and manufacture processes related technology preferred.
  • Data driven approach to segment decision making, track record of developing business cases or strategic proposals.

Desired Characteristics
  • Owner of several product portfolios including hardware/consumables and reagents
  • Requires significant coordination with other BU and OpCo product management leads to establish Cytiva-wide NPD prioritization and execution
  • Will require significant coordination with other BU and OpCo operational teams in order to ensure appropriate prioritization of Protein Research customer orders
