The role:

Regional Category Manager (m/f/d) – Polymerics, Control Panels and Electrical Hardware

The Regional Category Manager coordinates and executes overall strategies and operations for the global purchasing of material and services related to Polymerics, control panels and electrical hardware with focus on the most complex suppliers/categories. This role manages with dotted lines 10+ Strategic Buyers at various EMEIA sites and develops category strategies for the assigned category within EMEIA region. Besides that, you develop, coordinate, execute and maintain categories strategies, policies, and other category guidance with local procurement resources. In addition, you develop the Annual Sourcing Effectiveness Plans in alignment with guidance and group targets, Conduct analysis, supplier qualification, RFQs, negotiation, contracting, and contract approval within the defined delegation of authority. The CM coordinates with local buyers to determine supplier performance as it impacts category strategies, contract management, and overall category supplier management, identifies internal customer requirements (e.g. engineering, manufacturing) and collaborates with internal customers to drive procurement value within the designated category.

For the assigned category make sure to:
  • Provide a supplier base able to meet Xylem technical needs.
  • Develop and maintain supplier base in order to secure deliveries and quality.
  • Develop and maintain the supplier base to secure Total Cost Effectiveness.
  • Provide a supply base that fulfills Xylem requirements for Sustainability, Financial Status, Material usage, Environmental aspects, etc.
COMMUNICATION
  • Actively communicate with site sourcing functions to secure the supplier base and able to support local manufacturing needs and/or new product development activities.
  • In a professional way represent Xylem to external suppliers.
INNOVATION/ KNOWLEDGE
  • Actively search for new or more optimal manufacturing processes for assigned category to secure cost effectiveness, quality and deliveries.
RISK
  • Actively search information about financial status, legal irregularities, sustainability and other aspects for suppliers that might harm Xylem as a cooperation partner and customer.
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITIES
  • Sign off on Control panel, polymeric and electrical hardware supplier contracts as per delegation of authority.
  • Approve and review Supplier Action Plans.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Site Procurement organizations, Engineers, XGP

External: Suppliers

Qualifikation
  • University degree in Engineering or Economics or equivalent.
  • Good skills in negotiation techniques.
  • Good knowledge in polymeric and control panel manufacturing and processes along with a good knowledge of resin materials and compositions.
  • Relevant procurement experience in plastics and electronics a plus.
  • Fluent in oral and written English a must, German as an alternative language a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, passport and police record check.

  • Capable of working in a team environment involving multiple cultures.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% to 60% based on COVID protocols.
