Build the future.What You’ll DoIn this role you will be applying your expertise in patent law to create and manage a holistic and business relevant IP portfolio, in close collaboration with R&D, Innovation, the business and others on the IP Team. You independently support Innovation Project Teams to ensure that the value of DSM’s IP assets is maximized, and that IP is fully utilized to achieve DSM’s broader strategic innovation goals.Are you driven to create and connect IP strongly to innovation and running business? • Protect innovative product formulations and combinations of multiple ingredients to serve our customers´ needs and future-proof our business.
• Be an integral part of an Operational IP Team, which consists of different IP roles (including patent and trademark attorneys, IP intelligence analysts and IP paralegals) all contributing to the team according to their specific expertise.
• As part of the Operational IP Team create and execute business-driven and holistic IP strategies (considering patents, trade secrets, trademarks, designs, copyrights, domain names, database rights, etc.) and build and maintain a valuable, business relevant IP portfolio via strategic generation, acquisition, and protection of DSM’s intellectual property.
• Advise the business on intellectual property related opportunities and risks, including freedom-to-operate analyses and related risk mitigation options.
• In line with the IP strategies, support others on the IP Team and/or innovation or business functions on IP-related transactions, including development agreements, acquisition, and licensing.
• Efficiently utilize internal and external resources pertaining to IP drafting, prosecution, litigation, formalities, and trademarks, as needed.

You Bring

• 8-10 years previous work experience as an IP attorney in the field, preferably in a FMCG company, such as in the F&B or Personal Care domain
• Registration to practice as a patent attorney at the US Patent and Trademark Office or European Patent Office and/or comparable national qualification
• A flexible, agile and solution-oriented mindset
• Brilliant collaborative skills
• Learning mindset and open for other opinions, combined with ability to take decisions
• Ownership and pro-activeness
• Excellent communication skills, fluent in English
