Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in software development and with data structures/algorithms
  • Experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, and/or experience with compute technologies, storage, and/or hardware architecture
  • Experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
  • Experience working in a complex organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch), artificial intelligence, or deep learning

This team develops and supports a service for ML Experimentation that is deeply embedded in Google’s machine learning infrastructure. We’re a pillar component in the workflow of most ML researchers at Google, and are expanding our support of teams who bring ML from research to production.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Support reliability, scalability, and integrations with partner teams and the wider ML infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Set technical direction and priorities for the development of machine learning infrastructure.
  • Lead and grow a small team of engineers, enabling career growth and establishing expectations and stretch opportunities for each team member.
  • Collaborate with other ML infrastructure teams in Core ML and other parts of Google to build a well-integrated and robust infrastructure for ML experimentation.
  • Set and foster an inclusive team culture.
