We seek a motivated and independent research assistant to perform laboratory work in the Sedimentology group. The successful candidate will perform laboratory analyses on lake and peat sediment cores from the Archipelago of Vanuatu. These will contribute to an ongoing project that aims to reconstruct past human activities and climatic variations in the Tropical Pacific. https://www.eawag.ch/en/department/surf/projects/macro-tracking-the-polynesian-migration/

The successful candidate will be employed under the Tailwind grant that supports researchers after their parental leave. The laboratory work ranges from sedimentological analyses (grain size, bulk isotopic work) to organic geochemistry (biomarker purification and compound specific stable isotope analyses).

Your profile
The candidate should have experience in organic geochemistry, stable isotopes, and/or other lab-based analytical methods, hands-on experience with GC-MS, proficiency in English, and an interest in paleolimnology.

The successful applicant will be based in Dübendorf, in the Sedimentology group of Dr Nathalie Dubois.
