LifeMine Therapeutics is reinventing drug discovery by mining genetically-encoded small molecules (GEMs) from the biosphere. LifeMine has discovered, in genomic space, hundreds of potentially high-impact drug candidates relevant to targets across all major disease areas and has an initial focus on advancing highly impactful precision medicines in oncology and immune modulation.

Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, LifeMine is opening its European Headquarters in Basel. Our 4,000 m2 facility is in Klybeck, Basel, right next to the beautiful Rhine River and the train station, close to City Center. The Klybeck area is home to many top US and Swiss pharmaceutical and Biotech companies in Europe’s biotechnology hub.

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate II or Senior Research Associate with industry experience in drug discovery and an entrepreneurial spirit to join our growing Biology team in Basel. This ideal candidate should have hands on experience in drug discovery and the deployment of cell-based assays to help characterize the activity and mode of action of novel chemical matter.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and executing strategies to evaluate drug activity and mechanism
  • Executing experiments; accurately record, analyze, interpret and present data to the team
  • Collaborating across functional teams to efficiently characterize drug candidates and move them to the clinic

Requirements
  • BS w/ 3 - 4+ years of relevant industry experience or MS w/ 0 - 3+ years of relevant industry experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated track record of providing significant biological insights to drug discovery efforts, especially in the areas of oncology, immunology, and cell signaling
  • Expertise in cellular and molecular biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, RNAi, CRISPR, qPCR, Western blotting, and microscopy
  • Experience in optimizing and developing medium- to high-throughput cell-based mechanistic and in vitro/ex vivo functional assays
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art cell assay technologies e.g. AlphaLISA, HTRF, In-Cell Western, etc.
  • Outstanding at problem-solving and multitasking, with exceptional time management skills and a willingness to take on responsibility
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a dynamic and team-oriented environment
  • Scientific curiosity and a passion to deliver new medicines for patients in need
