Are you an experienced Risk and Insurance manager who feels comfortable working in a small team with a lot of responsibilities? Can you roll up your sleeves and do you want to understand what is behind the curtain by going deeper in to the risks?

Purpose of the role
As our EMEA Risk & Insurance Manager you are responsible for driving the risk management process throughout the global risk management organization. With a focus on the EMEA region and country insurance contacts, you will also with support the Asia Credit Risk & Insurance Manager. You will support the execution and achievement of global objectives of the global risk & insurance team. The focus will be on the reduction of Bunge’s total cost of risk. You will do this while working closely with other Bunge EMEA functional groups; Commercial, Safety/Operations/Quality Control, Finance, Legal, and IT Security to help ensure Bunge is adequately covering risks Bunge senior management intends to mitigate through insurance.


Tasks and responsibilities

  • Set up appropriate insurance transfers (a lot of time is taken by cargo insurance)
  • Analyze the value of each business insurance policy at renewal with the support of 3rd party and internally produced analytics
  • Improve insurance renewal and ongoing insurance policy compliance processes by eliminating redundancies and increasing efficiencies
  • Provide proactive risk management expertise (primarily sourced from the insurance industry and insurance program analytics) to other Bunge functional groups and teams that manage specific risks
  • Manage all local insurance policy renewals and contribute to global placements where Europe countries are covered in coordination with global insurance brokers.
  • Manage certificate of insurance requirements and other contractual requirements related to insurance.
  • Collect and package all necessary policy renewal data information.
  • Work closely with local TPAs, appraisers, loss prevention inspector, and insurance brokers.
  • Report potential insurance claims in writing to Dir of GL and other stakeholders.
  • Communication to regional finance teams on insurance budgets, claim settlements, and other costs that may impact Bunge’s P&L (+ or -)
  • Review local contractual agreements with Bunge Legal teams.
  • Understand local crisis management and business continuity plans (Legal and Safety/Operations) and review loss control practices.
  • Lead regional loss prevention program in coordination with 3rdparty loss prevention engineers and Bunge Safety/Operations teams.
  • Manage country level risk and insurance contacts and offer ongoing training.
  • Partner with Bunge internal audit team on improvement projects related to risk reporting processes.
  • Oversee the risk and insurance process of regional Bunge JV partnerships.
  • If required, you will support Bunge’s M&A team by offering insurance expertise and Bunge requirements.


Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business
  • Desired ARM certification or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in risk/insurance management in a similar industry (agribusiness, food, logistics, or manufacturing) under a global organization, and/or
  • 10+ years of experience as a property & casualty insurance broker with a focus on transit risks, and/or
  • 10+ years of experience as an insurance underwriting or claims management with a focus on transit risks
  • An additional European language is preferred
  • Willing to travel to global insurance meetings and present to the global team on regional insurance / risk management.
