lastminute.com is looking for a Scala Developer for its Data Platform Team.

The Data Platform is the backbone of our data environment, it is responsible for moving, managing and organising data and their related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop data-intensive applications using the Scala language
• Develop/improve data pipelines, ensuring code quality and performance, applying engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with other teams to help them design data solutions
• Support the architectural design and evolution of the Data Platform
  
  

Essential

• Comfortable developing Scala application from scratch
• Solid knowledge of the big data ecosystem: tooling, data serialisation formats, data pipelines and data modelling
• Experience with cloud platforms
• Basic knowledge of Linux administration and system tools

Desirable

Previous experience with:

• Scala writing data intensive applications from scratch
• Google Cloud Data Tools (Pub/Sub, DataFlow, Cloud Storage, ...)
• Functional Programming patterns
• Akka libraries
• MPP databases
• Building distributed systems from the ground up
  
  

Abilities/qualities

• Like to solve problems and are willing to interact with other people to gather requirements
