Our Client

Skyhawk’s mission is to discover and develop small molecule therapeutics to correct RNA mis-expression targeting a broad range of diseases from rare neurological conditions to cancers. Skyhawk uses a set of proprietary tools on the forefront of RNA technology to quickly yield preliminary drug candidates. Our goal is to develop novel treatments for some of the world’s most intractable diseases. The team in Basel herby is focussing on neurodegenerative disease. The aim is to identify drug candidates and to further optimize the lead candidates in strong cooperation with external partners. Place of work: Basel (Switzerland)

Tasks

Your Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, execute, and analyze a variety of experiments, including but not limited to:
  • RNA/DNA isolation, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, libraries preparation for sequencing, RT-qPCR for analysis of gene expression and detection of splice variants;
  • Mammalian cell culture, transfection/transduction, generation of stable cell lines;
  • Cell-based assays including luminescence/fluorescence reporter assays, imaging, FACS, proliferation and viability assays and others;
  • Protein extraction, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, MSD and other protein assays
  • Compound screening in miniaturized assay format
  • Provide critical analysis and interpretation of experimental results and contribute to discussion and evaluation of follow-up experiments
  • Record all data and results in electronic format and present important results effectively at internal and external meetings
  • Follow safety guidelines at all times and keep an orderly work environment
  • Interact with CROs to establish and execute externalized assays and analyze data
Requirements

Your profile
  • Doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field with a minimum of 5+ years of combined R&D experience in a relevant field with demonstrated track record of scientific publication in peer-reviewed journals and patents
  • Experience in drug discovery, with a focus on establishing target characterization and approach validation assays (strong background in oncology desirable)
  • Experience in RNA splicing/RNA biology and RNA-based techniques (such as qRT-PCR, RNA FISH, protein-RNA/DNA co-localization, RNA CLIP)
  • Experience in design and validation of minigenes and cellular reporter assays
  • Working knowledge of CRISPR-based cell line generation and iPSC derived human disease models is desirable
  • Familiarity with next generation sequencing approaches including RNAseq and ability to collaborate with genomics/bioinformatics group in design and interpretation of studies is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in MS Office package and GraphPad prism
