Senior Financial Analyst – Cardiovascular, Metabolism, Retina & Pulmonary Hypertension R&D Finance

Job Description:

The Senior Financial Analyst role is part of the Janssen Research & Development (JRD) Finance organization and will be located in Allschwil, Switzerland, supporting CVMR & PH Research and Development. The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing financial leadership, support, and analysis to several key development compounds within the CVMR & PH Therapeutic Area. The position is responsible for all financial aspects related to their project and functional budgets. The individual will also play a critical role in the business planning process coordination and consolidation.

The Senior Financial Analyst will proactively partner with Compound Development Teams (CDT) and Project Management Teams (PMT) to align financial targets, analyze the value of project investments, address business issues, manage all aspects of financial updates including Business Plan and Long Range Financial Plan, and ensure the accuracy and compliance of monthly forecasting and closing cycles. The Senior Financial Analyst will also be responsible for the pipeline valuation models, which includes partnering with CDT/PMT, Commercial, Strategic Marketing, Operations and Tax. This also includes support of Cross Pharmaceutical Portfolio Reviews and ad-hoc valuation support to key stakeholders across the Pharmaceutical R&D, Operations, and Strategic Marketing organizations. The Senior Financial Analyst will be asked to partner with Business Development in support of External Innovation and L&A/M&A projects.

The ability to challenge business assumptions, develop alternative scenarios, and educate business partners on financial issues and concepts will be required. The candidate must demonstrate strong financial leadership by providing recommendations for improving the value of the financial information supplied to upper management, providing guidance to business partners, and managing the process for all development forecast and worldwide valuation updates for his/her compounds.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of three years finance experience
  • Strong communication skills, customer focus and proactive attitude, and ability to partner effectively with business
  • The ability to think creatively and work in a team environment
  • The ability to effectively take on leadership roles working with various functions
  • Must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred:

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other financial certifications
