Job Purpose:
As a Senior Vice President in the Corporate Valuation Advisory Services (CVAS) practice’s Complex Securities team, you will join a small, specialized, and fast-growing team serving corporate clients from a large variety of industries. You will collaborate with both junior and senior team members to lead client engagements to perform complex valuations of financial instruments and provide data-driven statistical analyses and solutions. You will focus on serving Swiss local and cross-border clients and establishing and growing the firm’s presence in the Swiss corporate advisory and valuation market.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the complex securities client engagements including valuation of contingent considerations, convertible debt and preferred equity instruments, embedded derivatives, stock-based compensation awards, warrants, and fixed income instruments (debt securities, inter-company loans, distressed and defaulted debt) in accordance with Swiss GAAP FER, IFRS, and US GAAP.
  • Advise clients regarding their customer base and customer lifetime value using data-driven approach and machine learning models.
  • Develop quantitative models to value custom financial instruments and solve unique client issues for financial reporting, tax, and management planning purposes.
  • Lead scouting, pitching, and executing tax receivable agreements buy and sale mandates in the Swiss market as well as develop liquid market for tax assets backed derivatives.
  • Establish and grow complex securities practice in Switzerland by recruiting and training talent locally.
  • Coordinate with Zurich-based corporate finance and technical accounting teams to lead a joint go-to-market initiative to establish and develop the firm’s FVA service offering in Switzerland.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in quantitative finance (i.e., financial engineering or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments, derivatives valuation theory (closed form solutions, binomial lattices, and Monte Carlo simulations), and statistical methods
  • 6+ years of experience in financial reporting valuation for a Senior Vice President
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills with working knowledge of English and French or German
  • Proficient coding skills (e.g., Python, R, or Matlab) and proven track record of training junior team members in working with code
  • Proven track record of recruiting, training, and managing junior team members
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dual Swiss – US education background or work experience
  • Prior experience in valuation of tax receivable agreements
  • Experience working with large data sets, performing statistical analyses in Python, and presenting results with data visualization software such as Tableau
  • Demonstrated history of building and improving models and processes that automate routine calculations using Python and VBA
