Skyhawk is committed to discovering, developing, and commercializing small molecule therapeutics that correct RNA splicing. We use our novel SkySTAR® platform (Skyhawk Small molecule Therapeutics for Alternative splicing of RNA) to develop drug candidates directed to targets for some of the world’s most intractable diseases including cancer, neurological conditions, and other “undruggable” targets against a wide range of conditions.Tasks
  • Independently develop algorithms, software packages, analysis pipelines, and notebooks to process, analyze, visualize, and interpret proprietary and public omics data.
  • Analyze and integrate RNA-seq, Amplicon-seq, Nanopore, eCLIP, proteomics, and other data to characterize the selectivity and mechanism of action for novel RNA-targeting small molecules.
  • Design and implement novel analytic methods and metadata management tools for interrogating high-throughput screening NGS data to identify novel chemical matters for new RNA targets.
  • Provide computational support at various stages of preclinical drug discovery.
  • Interact with counterparts from discovery biology, chemistry, high-throughput screening, data management, and IT to account for their insights and needs.
  • Manage project timelines with internal personnel and external vendors.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field. 3-5+ year post-graduate experience is preferred.
  • Strong programming skills with Python, R, Perl, Bash and expertise in statistical analysis. Familiar with Git version control, HPC and AWS cloud computation, Nextflow, data science and visualization packages (e.g. pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, ggplot2, Plotly).
  • Proficient with differential splicing, differential gene expression, pathway enrichment analyses, and transcriptome assembly with RNA-seq data.
  • Track record of software packages, analysis pipelines, and publications in computational RNA biology. Deep and broad knowledge of alternative splicing regulation in diseases.
  • Experience of mining multi-omics data from thousands of samples with machine learning techniques, such as clustering and classification, is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and manage priorities/timelines flexibly.
  • Willingness to travel to the east coast (Boston offices)
Skyhawk is looking for a talented and inspired Senior/Principal Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics team. In this role you will report directly to the Director of Bioinformatics and be responsible for advancing RNA-targeting drug discovery with computational tools. The primary responsibilities of the role include developing algorithms, software packages, and analysis pipelines for various omics data. Applicants should be self-starters and excited about the opportunity to operate in a multi-faceted bioinformatics function within a growing, fast-paced company.
