Overview:
Join our tightly knit product development team of exceptional software engineers, designers and product engineers at the ESRI R&D Center in Zurich Switzerland.

You will work on ArcGIS CityEngine, a fully-fledged desktop application used by renowned urban planning studios across the globe to plan and design the cities of tomorrow. Furthermore, CityEngine is used in the VFX and entertainment industry to create imaginary cities for movie productions and games.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with product designers and product engineers to build novel, innovative 3D modeling & design user experiences in CityEngine.
  • Help improve and maintain CityEngine’s connection to online resources such as ArcGIS Online (Esri’s Cloud solution) or OSM (OpenStreetMap) and 3D data formats such as USD.
  • Contribute to CityEngine’s real-time 3D rendering capabilities ranging from massive data visualization down to material shaders programming.
  • Adopt good software engineering practices, apply modern software architecture principles, and contribute to continuous integration and test automation.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in computer science
  • Background in computer graphics, visualization, and/or game development
  • Excellent programming skills (we use Java, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, ...)
  • Good communication skills
Recommended Qualifications:
  • Proficient in CAD, BIM or 3D software tools such as Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, Houdini, or CityEngine
  • Knowledge of architectural design, urban planning or GIS workflows
  • Software engineering experience in large projects and agile environment
  • Interest in UX/UI design, and the craft of software development in general
  • Experience in outreach work (presentation, writing, evangelization, interacting with users)
