Software Engineer - Code Quality

Do you have a passion for doing things The Right Way? Coupled with a strong foundation in Python and C++, and in the best practices for working with, packaging and distributing such code? Then come help us improve our codebase, and make sure that it scales together with us.

In your day-to-day, you will be part of a >25 person (and growing) software and DevOps team. You will initiate and drive discussions on how to structure our code and keep the quality high, on how to best get it from the developers through CI/CD and out to where it is used - and then be instrumental in implementing these solutions. You will also continuously analyze our existing code base, identify better ways of doing things, and help making them happen.

As this is a new position at Verity, you will have many possibilities to help further refine your area of work and responsibilities.

What you’ll do

• Specify, design and implement new solutions for code infrastructure (source code and codebase structure, build systems, packaging, etc.), and take ownership of and maintain existing projects
• Pro-actively identify pain-points, bottlenecks and potential causes of errors in our code infrastructure, and mitigate these before they become critical
• Continuously improve the internal software quality management processes (e.g. coding guidelines, architecture, etc.)
• Mentor colleagues on coding best practices through day-to-day communication, code reviews, workshops and presentations
• Contribute to software development projects in fields related to your interests and profile

What you bring

• Degree (FH, BSc, MSc) in computer science, software engineering, or relevant field
• 3+ years of professional hands-on experience in Python and C++
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Professional experience with
• Packaging and distributing Python and C++
• CI/CD systems (e.g. Jenkins, etc.)
• Tools to check code-quality (e.g. formatters, style-checkers, linters, static analyzers, etc.)
• git
• Ubuntu, or similar Linux distribution
• Additional plus
• Professional hands-on experience in modern C++ and CMake
  
• Experience with Debian packaging
• Experience with open source license compliance
• Experience with software security
