SonarSource provides world-class solutions for continuous code quality. Our open-source and commercial products (SonarLint, SonarCloud, and SonarQube) help developers and organizations of all sizes to manage the quality & security of their code and ultimately deliver better software. SonarSource solutions support development in 25+ programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, C/C++, COBOL, and many more. With over 6,000 customers including eBay, Thales, BMW, and used by more than 200,000 organizations globally, SonarSource products are the preferred and most trusted solutions on the market.

The impact you can have

We are looking for software documentation specialists to join our three product teams (SonarLint, SonarCloud, and SonarQube). You will work with developers, designers, infrastructure engineers, and technical writers. We are all dedicated to making the best products for developers who care about their code, and documentation is an important part of this. As SonarSource continues to grow, the demand for high-quality documentation also grows.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Help drive the overall documentation strategy.
  • Structure, write and maintain documentation for one of our products.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and product managers during sprints focusing on documentation, interface copy, and the product user experience in general.
  • Engage with our user community and the services team to understand user needs.
  • Play a key role in the team in identifying creative approaches or solutions and actively promote collaboration and teamwork to ensure the best team results.

  • The skills you will demonstrate

  • Excellent proficiency in English with a fluid, laid-back writing style. We have standardized on American English, so that variant is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical writing experience preferred.
  • The ability to explain complex ideas in an easy-to-understand way.
  • Experience with agile practices and principles.
  • Experience with a docs-as-code approach is a plus.
  • Experience with content-management software is a plus.
  • Some familiarity with the software development process is a definite plus.
  • Open-minded and positive can-do attitude.
  • Lifelong learner, excited to explore new approaches.
  • Passionate about technology.
  • A pragmatic approach to writing, with a focus on iterative improvement processes.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and receptive to feedback.

  • If this sounds like you, apply now with your resume and two or three representative samples of your writing.

Why you will love it here

  • Safe work culture: we value respect, kindness, and the right to fail.
  • Flexible hours: we schedule our days in order to be effective at work, this is why some people prefer to work from home one day per week.
  • Great people: we value people skills as much as technical skills and strive to keep things friendly and laid back. Still, that does not prevent us to be passionate leaders in our domains. Our 200+ SonarSourcers from 27 different nationalities can relate!
  • Work-life balance: keeping a healthy work-life balance is important while also being able to enjoy life’s important moments.
  • Always keep learning: in an ever-changing industry, learning new skills is a must, and we’re happy to help our team to acquire them.

  • What we do

SonarSource was started by a team of developers that wanted to change the way code is built in an agile development process. The company was created to develop the open-source tool SonarQube, which is now the standard in code quality management with over 190,000 instances deployed today. Every day we are focused on solving developers’ next big problem.

    Who we are

At SonarSource we believe in people, excellence, and delivery. We’re a team of problem solvers and overachievers who seek out others who are also passionate and relentless in their respective missions. We want to work with people who are ready to fasten their seat belts and be part of an incredible ride. We work hard not because we’re told to, but because we genuinely love what we do and do what we love. If there’s one main message we want you to remember about us, it’s that we push others to be best in class at whatever they do: choose your battle, innovate, take risks, and lead change. Join us; we’ll be smarter and stronger together.
