Your ’day to day’
As a Senior Scientist you will be a part of Consumable and Process Technology group, accountable for the development of the new products and the integration of its various components such as consumable, device and materials. You will also be accountable for continuous improvements of performance of existing products with focus on technical solutions according to performance, design and manufacturability constraints.
In close collaboration with the internal and external stakeholders you will define and characterize product and material requirements through prototyping and experimentations. In addition, you will build knowledge on the critical attributes and participate in product industrialization. Furthermore, you will continuously look for opportunities to improve the performance of the product and materials, working towards PMI productivity and sustainability targets.

More specifically, you will:
  • Manage research and product development activities
  • Plan and execute the development activities, collect and provide evidence and data regarding product performance by designing experimental plans using “Design of Experiment (DoE)” principles and coordinate their execution by providing clear instruction to internal and external partners.
  • Perform thorough risk assessment to support the industrialization of new product and materials from laboratory to commercial scale.
  • Ensure the creation of design documents and reports, ensure that the supporting data are generated and consolidated and reviewed in line with scientific best practices.
  • Prepare and present clear recommendations to the stakeholder and management for decisions and further research and development stages
  • Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, and company policies to follow an effective and continuous product development process.
  • Identify and define technical requirements to establish partnership with external suppliers / services to support the development.
  • Apply company IP strategies for new product design and materials.

Who we’re looking for:
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in chemistry, engineering, material science or equivalent.
  • Proven relevant experience in research and development within tobacco, food or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge about various manufacturing materials processes (polymers, papers, metal) is an advantage.
  • Proven track record in problem solving, team collaboration in cross-functional projects and executing complex design of experiments supported by statistical data processing
  • You are creative, always looking for solutions and opportunities, ready to take a challenge.
  • You are experienced and used to work independently, with low supervision, not afraid to take decisions and responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with various stakeholders
  • Fluent in English, French is an asset
