Alpiq’s legacy Gas Desk, which is part of our Merchant Trading unit, plays an important role in our growth agenda and is undergoing significant change. The newly created role of Structured Gas Trader is intended to create additional momentum at the desk and increase our capability in complex gas trading. The role is based on our main trading floor in Olten, Switzerland.


Main responsibilities

  • Gas Structured deals and Derivatives trading
  • Pricing and Optimization of Physical/Virtual Flexibility (Storages, Swing Contracts, Pipelines etc)
  • Close collaboration with traders and analysts from other desks in order to leverage additional market insights
  • Close collaboration with support functions across the business, as mid-office, IT and Analytics

Main Qualiifications

  • Ideally 5 years of relevant experience, good understanding of the gas market and its financial products
  • Experience in the development and application of quantitative models for the structuring of complex deals
  • Strong analytical skills, data management and coding (VBA, Python)
  • Very good communication and collaboration skills, ability to be an efficient team player even when under high pressure
  • Fluent English, any other language a plus
