Job Purpose

The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) is a key enabler to achieve service and operational excellence, to simplify processes and portfolios, to optimize inventory & all costs between AF Kreuzlingen and its internal /external business partners.


The SCM is responsible for the coordination of the order flow steps that efficiently transform Customers Orders into Deliveries i.e.: Production Order processing, procurement & supply of raw material, services and consumables, inventory management, planning, warehousing & delivery and invoicing.


The SCM provides skills & leadership to ensure a high level of performance within the areas of demand forecasting/planning, scheduling, inventory management, delivering & KPI setting. The SCM role also encompasses the coordination and collaboration with supply partners & customers, as well as integrating supply and demand management within and across companies.

Principal Accountabilities

Main Responsibilities


  • Efficient & effective order fulfillment
  • Fulfill customer demands through the most efficient use of resources
  • Contact with customers and suppliers. Customer satisfaction
  • On Time In Full and In Specification Deliveries (DIFOTIS)

  • Procurement
  • Sourcing strategically to strike a balance between lowest material cost and transportation
  • Manage Supplier Performance
  • Identify & deliver Procurement Savings

  • Planning
  • Sales & Operational Planning (including Demand Management)
  • Material & Manufacturing resource planning
  • Capacity setting to match budget, forecast and demand
  • Customer forecast management in cooperation with CS and Commercial Team

  • Inventory Management
  • Match demand with minimal inventory
  • Optimize inventory management

  • Distribution & transportation
  • Warehousing supervision (interna external)
  • Transport cost & efficiency optimization (joint responsibility with Commercial/Export)

  • Continuous Improvement
  • CI and Lean Six Sigma activities and projects at Supply Chain area
  • Simplification & effectiveness
  • Maintain knowledge & use of the latest supply chain & logistic tools and processes
  • Push & Pull environment knowledge, JIT (Just In Time) techniques to optimize manufacturing flow

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Formal Qualifications And Experience
  • University degree in field of Management Engineering (Preferably)
  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain experience
  • Experience in leading a team and building capability
  • Preferably strong knowledge of the packaging business, customers and suppliers
  • ERP, MRP knowledge
  • Data analysis with strong Excel capabilities
