Swiss Semester is seeking candidates to teach an introductory college level geology class to highly motivated high school sophomores.

Swiss Semester is a unique three month experiential program that provides students a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to challenge themselves academically, physically, and socially in the magnificent alpine setting of Zermatt, Switzerland. What better place to study geology and make a difference in a person’s life.

Swiss Semester provides teachers with room and board, stipend, and a salary (Sfr. 12-16K for three months depending on experience and education).

Responsibilities:

  • Teach geology (four classes; one prep) including outdoor labs
  • Dorm parent/duties
  • Advisor/mentor to students
  • Trip leader or participant depending on experience
  • Remote liaison with advisee parents
  • Ambassador in community
  • Ensure/enforce adherence to program’s rules and standards

Qualifications:

  • Subject matter knowledge
  • Experience teaching (traditional and/or non-traditional)(preferably teenagers)
  • Minimum: college graduate degree in geology or extensive geology classes
  • Preferred: graduate degree in geology or extensive geology classes

0800-1120 four 50 minute classes

1120-1630 outdoor activities (hiking, climbing, geology lab; skiing)

1630-1810 two 50 minute classes

1930-2145 study hall
