Challenge description

Our Solution Team for Application Development is growing! We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to work within our Solution Team for Application Development and Integration. He/She will have the responsibility of managing the projects backlog with the aim of prioritizing the mission critical work packages for the completion and delivery of our customer projects. As part of the Solution Team, you will be coordinating the development of standalone solutions and fully integrated solutions shipped with our QSorter® platforms.

In this position you will be responsible to work on challenging projects as well as on the delivery of off-the-shelf solutions to help our customers solving a vast variety of problems related to the quality, traceability, and consistency of raw materials along the entire value chain from farm to fork. You will work in a dynamic environment where we adopt Agile methodology for product development, project approach and teamwork (Scrum).

We are seeking an experienced fast-thinker able to build bridges between the customer requirements and technical solutions. He/She will bring a structured approach to the development process and guide the technical team through the process of product delivery. Our ideal candidate should have prior experience in technical areas such as application development for scientific or inspection instruments especially in the food and agricultural markets. We are looking for candidates with relevant work experience in complex projects both as a team member and as a project coordinator with a demonstrated ability to communicate well within and across teams.

Your major tasks

  • Study and understand our customers’ requirements and, with support of the Solution and System Architect, translate them into product requirements and technical requirements.
  • Guide the team in the process of backlog creation by collecting inputs from the team and defining the required effort and timeline for completion.
  • Manage the backlog according to the business priorities set forth by the management team
  • Set team goals sprint after sprint.
  • Support the technical team in the completion and testing of the integrated device prior to the delivery to the customers, while making sure the requirements are met.
  • Summarize the teamwork (scientific/engineering approach and key results) into reports and presentations to various stakeholders in official review meetings.
  • Act as a point of contact in case of complex issues on installed devices and coordinate the support within the team.
  • Work closely to Solution and System architect in the identification of possible product improvement to be implemented both in the platform and as an incremental product release for applications.
  • Support, when needed, the technical review of customer contracts by benchmarking the technical requirements and the project delivery timeline.
  • Coach the technical team in the development of a pragmatic and quality-oriented approach to industrial development.
  • Work in conjunction with the Scrum Master to create a high-performing team proactively proposing initiatives and learning opportunities so that the team can grow strong.
  • Properly document the progress of projects in the company knowledge management system to create a historical record of the evolution and results of the technical work.
  • Availability to travel to customers, if required during the installation of new devices.

Your climbing kit

  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Research and Development or Production Engineering related to industrial products (analytical instrumentation, measurement equipment, robotics etc.).
  • Experience with processes and workflows of project management in particular a good knowledge and practical experience of the Scrum methodology.
  • Direct experience as project manager or Product Owner.
  • Team leadership experience or initiative coordinator experience.
  • Strong ability and knowledge of Statistics, Statistical Methods and Process Control tools.
  • Experience with software tools such as Jira, Sharepoint, Confluence, MS Project and similar.
  • Programming Languages: knowledge of Matlab, Python, or R is a nice plus.
  • General computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to make decisions and communicate effectively while under pressure.
  • Uncommon enthusiasm and drive for results and teamwork (“We” before “Me” attitude!).
  • Fluent English (written and spoken), German basics.

EU/EFTA citizens or valid Swiss working permit.
