Serpentine Ventures (SERV) is the investment arm of the Swiss Startup Group. SERV was founded by experienced entrepreneurs and financial services professionals and works with exceptional entrepreneurial talent to build and invest in technology driven ventures. SERV expands its capabilities by selectively recruiting and adding distinctive talent and hence, is looking for an investment analyst to strengthen its investment management team.

Our ideal candidate has 1-3 years of experience in early stage investing, with strong connections to the Chinese Venture Capital (VC) ecosystem. He or she will be responsible for defining and sharpening our strategy to the Chinese market, sourcing deals, and activating discussions with Chinese VCs and FoFs. Other key responsibilities include producing detailed business, market and financial analyses of venture investments, investment pipeline management as well as support to portfolio companies.

Tasks

  • Macro trend and venture capital research for the Chinese market
  • Building network for Serpentine Ventures with Chinese VC/startup ecosystems
  • Scouting and sourcing new investment opportunities in China and Europe
  • Investment analysis for early-stage ventures (including but not limited to business, market, competition, valuation, and deal structuring analysis)
  • Pipeline management, including extensive interaction with the venture founders/ employees
Requirements

  • Technical or Business background: Master’s degree or above, ideally with a major in engineering, business administration & strategy, entrepreneurship & innovation, or finance
  • 1-3 years of experience in an investment role with exposure to the Chinese market (startup experience as an asset)
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Proactive attitude, and ability to work independently within a fast-moving environment
  • Effective communication both orally and in written documents
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin, German advantageous
  • Ability to work in Switzerland
