Vice President, Analytics (Expedia for Business)

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and business insight driven individual to join Expedia’s Expedia for Business (E4B) organization. The Vice President of Analytics will report into the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for setting the vision to develop an outstanding analytics strategy while managing and leading the Analytics team. This role is key to maintain and further advance Expedia as the market leader in partner, channel and consumer insights and supporting our ability to plan, respond to and adjust based on clear KPIs.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned analytics leader with a strong grasp of modern analytics techniques and support for partnerships powering both the supply and demand side of the business. Comfortable working in a matrixed organization with stakeholders that span multiple Expedia Group Divisions and can deliver business value through recognizing opportunities across analytics orgs and quickly helping business to adapt to changes in the market. This candidate serves as the Commercial Analytics thought partner for the President of Expedia for Business, responsible for all of our commercial partnerships.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the E4B leadership team by providing insightful and integrated commercial analysis, helping to guide the team in making the right decisions.
  • Work directly with Partners to understand how we can deliver win-win scenarios by combining in-depth commercial awareness with cutting edge use of EGs vast data infrastructure.
  • Provide direct support to all teams within E4B, supporting primarily the following:
    • Delivering insightful analytics to aid commercial decision making
    • Provide visibility into key performance indicators and metrics needed to drive the business
    • Proactively seek out new and interesting trends and insights to help generate value adding ideas and initiatives.
    • Where needed, provide automated reporting to provide visibility into business areas and initiatives.
  • Own and drive the vision and strategy around data democratization for E4B, while working collaboratively with peers in other divisions to help deliver cross enterprise solutions.
  • Drive consistent and relevant business metrics and redefine existing KPIs to hone in on the success criteria related to business goals
  • Regular reporting of supply and demand utilization to enable KPI monitoring and the execution of agile actions for business improvements
  • Provide a deep understanding of supply channel / user (consumer) behavior and combine with business priorities for automated operational processes
  • Conduct an in-depth end to end data driven evaluation of our traffic ecosystem identifying opportunities and alternative approaches
  • Provide reports for internal stakeholders and for external client business needs that reflect and align to roadmap
  • Support the analytics org and E4B team with high value opportunities and the completion of RFPs for key clients
  • Responsible for leading actionable analytic insights that inform business decisions
  • Partner with leadership in setting and delivering strategic frameworks to measure and monitor supply performance and define key metrics
  • Perform analysis of past performance data and provide top class decision support and insight across analytics to key business partners
  • Deliver common reporting frameworks across analytics and supply
  • Drive more informed and intelligent business decisions through generation of insights
  • Collaborate with the Expedia Group Global Analytics community providing stewardship to drive a best-in-class analytics function

Team:

  • Manage and lead a dedicated team using logical thinking to solve, improve and innovate a complex business keystone: digital traffic ecosystem – ability to lead, align and influence
  • Ascertain clear roles and responsibilities to ensure proper execution aligned with business vision – regularly assess org structure to optimize efficiency and business alignment
  • Constantly build effective working relationships with all stakeholders developing data fueled solutions
  • Expand the team’s knowledge and analytical skill set to produce better insights and recommendations for enhancing business operations and strategy delivery
  • Establish a structured training program with two areas of focus: Technical: data analysis, storytelling, and statistical analysis tied to business strategy & impact

Who you are:

  • Subject matter expert in analytics with in-depth knowledge of data sources, systems, and their application
  • Experience partnering with data engineering and data product teams in driving delivery
  • A results-oriented analytical leader with experience in driving top class decision support and insight
  • Passionate about travel and curious for partner and consumer intuition and decision making
  • Ability to influence through all areas of the organization and broader company
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, organize and prioritize critical work streams to drive business results
  • Strong leadership qualifications with experience managing a large global team
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to cut through complexity and turn high-level business requirements into specific analysis projects
  • Good partner management and interpersonal skills, with experience managing key stakeholders based in multiple countries and time zones
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present complex information in small and large group settings in verbal and/or written form
