Achieva are currently recruiting for an experienced Virology Associate to work for one of Switzerland’s leading pharmaceutical companies.It will be an initial 8 month contract with the possibility of this being extended.The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors degree in biology and at least 2 years of relevant experience in virology, with a focus on hepatitis B.Main Responsibilities
  • Designing and performing experiments independently
  • Assay development
  • Experience with cell cultures and cell lines
  • PCR based analysis/ Western Blot/ ELISA
  • Quantification of bio molecules (DNA/RNA/proteins)
Must Haves
  • B.S. or related degree in biology or a closely related discipline (***)
  • Two years of relevant research experience in virology (**)
  • M.S. level associates encouraged to apply
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is beneficial.
  • Ability to conduct modern molecular virology/biology experiments as part of a team (***)
  • Willingness to work under BSL2/3 conditions with infectious agents is required
  • Experience in molecular virology (**)
  • Experience in PCR based detection of gene(**)
  • Experience protein level determination by Western blot and ELISA based assay (**)
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture (**)
  • Experience in nucleic acid and protein extraction from cell and tissue samples and quantification (**)
  • Experience in hepatitis B virus is beneficial (**)
  • Highly collaborative team focused approach to scientific research
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and planning skills and an excellent command of English
  • Prior hepatitis B vaccination
