Job Description

The purpose of our External Affairs & Market Access Team is to ensure broad and equal access to our innovative medicines and vaccines. This is achieved at individual medical accounts (Key Account Management), by ensuring reimbursement for our drugs and vaccines (Market Access) and on the long-term by addressing legislative and regulatory issues (Policy) that promote and protect the discovery of innovative medicine. All these activities are asking for strong internal and external communication that supports the achievement of our goals and positions our company as a trustful and competent partner for our stakeholders.

We are currently seeking a Communications Lead (m/f/d) who will be responsible for

  • Leading the communications team in Switzerland and developing strategic communication plans for the Swiss subsidiary.
  • Manage external communications focused on our key therapeutic areas and corporate reputation. Collaborate with key external stakeholders such as Swiss based media and the Swiss industry association.
  • Develop internal communication strategy in collaboration with the company`s Country Council (SCC) and communications colleagues from other sites.

Carrying out this role requires ongoing interaction with key internal and external stakeholders. This position will report to the External Affairs & Market Access Director for Switzerland.

We are looking for a leader with a strong background in business communication and/or media relations, with a sound understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and is passionate about leading cross-functional teamwork.

The Primary Activities Include But Are Not Limited To

Perform

  • Develop and support Vaccines franchise communications strategy and drive media relations activity to increase awareness and understanding of the value, impact and promise of our vaccines, working in collaboration with business functions.
  • Support Oncology and general medicines franchises including market readiness for new products through development and implementation of communications plans and media relations activity as needed.
  • Support issues preparedness and crisis management with scenario planning, material development and training to protect the company reputation and minimize threats to the business.
  • Develop relevant, timely and impactful media relations.
  • Ensure regional and local alignment with standard Global Communications practices for therapeutic area and product communications, media relations, employee communications, issues management and compliance.

  • Support one company culture across all sites in Switzerland through internal communication.
  • Contribute to a value-based discussion in health care through active external communication.

Inspire and Develop

  • Lead and inspire the communications team and support team members in their personal development.
  • Develop editorial content for internal channels to inform and engage employees.
  • Assist in the preparation of Swiss leader communications including development of briefing notes, town halls, email communications and supporting materials.

Collaborate

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and editors.
  • Serve as an advisor to franchise cross-functional teams on social media campaigns.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, journalism, marketing, or related field
  • Languages Fluent in German (native speaker preferred) / Fluent in English (oral and written) /Other languages are a plus, especially French, and Italian

Required Experience And Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of related communications experience
  • Demonstrates good understanding of the healthcare environment, including the business and regulatory environment in which the company competes and communicates.
  • Exhibits initiative, strategic thinking and creative problem solving in response to the communications challenges and opportunities faced by the company within the region.
  • Proven experience across multiple communications disciplines, including media relations, internal communications, social media and digital communications, issues management, and measurement.
  • Manages multiple projects and meets fast deadlines; demonstrates proactivity and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Team player, collaborative spirit, ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Strong writing, editing and verbal communications skills; strong proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Effectively collaborates with and communicates across multiple matrixed teams with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • A curiosity and passion for public health and improving access to healthcare among underserved populations.
