The Head of Clinical Insights has the responsibility for the development of the business intelligence and analytics strategies, in line with the strategic vision of Integrated Clinical Operations Analytics (ICOA) and Enabling Business Information Solutions (EBIS). They will partner with R&D IT, eClinical platform leads, leads for Therapeutic Areas, Integrated Data Analytics and Reporting and other partners to optimize the usage of platforms developed by ICOA across Global Development (GD).

The individual will be accountable for translating the Clinical Insights analytics and visualization strategy as well as the operational plans into ICOA functional objectives with a high level of autonomy. They will supervise operations and optimization of Clinical Insights tools and platforms. Provide strategic feedback and expertise to projects with responsibility for system inspection readiness as necessary for FDA and other health authority inspections.


This role will give significantly to the development of new processes and continuous process improvement standards/operational plans in support of the organizational and business strategies. Having a direct impact on business unit overall results. This person will be empowered to bring new insights and outlook of the industry trends to add to the strategy. They may have direct accountability for project/functional budgets. The contribution being motivated by short to long term strategies.


The individual typically has responsibility for projects of moderate-size complexity and business impact, such as accountability for regional and/or multi-functional scope. Manages or leads multiple projects, including some considered sophisticated and/or with accelerated priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop a high functioning diverse team enabling industry-leading clinical and operation analytics and metrics, with a focus on delivering optimized solutions providing value for R&D partners.
  • Actively adds to GD delivery and adoption of an analytics and reporting strategy aligned with our customers’ needs in partnership with IT.
  • Define and implement a clinical and operations analytics that facilitates gaining deep insight using AI/ML with data science team on clinical and operation data for relevant business partners in GD and clinical therapeutic areas.
  • Provide significantly to the definition and development of new processes for clinical and operation data capture, data integration and ingestion, master data management strategy that facilitates roll out of analytics and reporting strategy within GD.
  • Contribute to long term strategy, leading all aspects of the development, monitoring and reporting on successful execution of annual goals and objectives of ICOA.
  • Establish an internal and external benchmarking network facilitating the distillation of the best data integration and analytics practice from leading organizations externally while also adding to standard processes from internal teams within J&J.
  • Build a team to reach their potential as an organization by pro-actively leading and supporting the team members while embracing the CREDO and leadership principles within GD.
  • Act as a key leadership mentor as a member of the ICOA Leadership Team.

Qualifications


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of proven experience working with Business Intelligence tools, data science, analytics and/or Data Warehouse platforms covering clinical development in the Pharma and/or Life Sciences sector(s).

Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in People Leadership and a passion for developing others is preferred.
  • Experience in delivering system implementations yielding a positive value for organizations is required.
  • Knowledge of multiple cross-functional eClinical systems, industry guidelines and regulations is required.
  • Understanding of industry trends and best methods is preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of GCP, ICH, and 21 CFR Part 11 is required.

Other:

  • Strong data literacy skills.
  • Customer focused mentality.
  • 5% domestic or international travel as needed.
  • Data science certifications preferred.
