Traila is offering a unique opportunity to join a small team of elite engineers leading the way in developing active steering solutions for trams and trains. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, Traila concentrates on the development and industrialisation of advanced rail technology.

In the role of Mechanical Engineer, you will be working with a highly motivated cross-functional R&D team, consisting of mechanical, simulation, software and test engineers, in order to ensure the development of a cutting-edge technology, and build the company’s first industrially certified product.

Tasks

Your Responsibilities

  • Work closely and in collaboration with the Control, Simulation and Electronic Engineers, developing specifications and the subsequent mechanical design requirements
  • Know and understand the project scope, specifications, and any regulatory requirements that are applicable to the machine being developed
  • Complete mechanical design analysis as required to ensure the machine design will meet all project requirements
  • Create complete, organized, detailed print packages and coordinate and conduct release to fabrication meetings.
  • Work with component suppliers to specify and acquire quotes for commercial components that are needed for the machine design.
  • Support the fabrication, assembly and debug processes for the project as required.
  • Understand and execute all company standard operating procedures related to a safe machine design and build process.
  • Field testing of the system and data evaluation
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical engineering (BEng / MEng)
  • Industrial experience (+5 years)
  • CAD (Solidworks)/ Drafting skills
  • FEA experience
  • Good written and spoken English and German language skills.
  • Interdisciplinary knowledge in electronics, sensors, software and controls beneficial

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs
  • Demonstrated track record autonomously creating innovative and engaging products, with proven skills in presenting and inter-team partnership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with specific ability to write at a professional and technical level
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Risk taking in design, pushing past the obvious.
