You may be our new Patent Engineer (f/m/d)

The IP department of SIG is looking for a new member of the team, located in SIG headquarters. We are looking for an already qualified patent attorney, or for a patent engineer with relevant experience in patent matters, who is a team-working, professional, competent and approachable person.

Key responsibilities

• File and prosecute patent applications and design applications worldwide, including opposition, appeals, reexamination, invalidation and third-party observations, inhouse or using external outside counsels.
• Conduct patent related searches, such as prior art and technology landscape searches.
• Harvest of inventions, communicating with Tech Center & internal inventors.
• Mitigate IPR risks in business units and daily operation of the company by assessing the IPR situation, preparing and issuing professional patent related opinion, such as FTO opinions.
• Monitor competitors’ IP activities.
• Communicate and collaborate with external outside counsels all around the world on IP matters.
• Improve internal IP awareness, by, e.g., trainings.
• Support the work of the other members of the IP team and of the Head of IP.

You bring these skills, experience & education.

• In-depth understanding of concepts and principles of patent law
• The qualification as national or European patent attorney is preferred but not necessary.
• Fluency in English is a must. Knowledge of another language among Spanish, German or Chinese is advantageous.
• Flexibility and teamwork spirit
• Experience with internal patent databases and commercial IP Tools
