Role Purpose

You play a pivotal role in maximising the overall value delivery of the Diagnostics strategy, unlocking the power of our organisation in RDS and beyond, and setting us up for long-term success.

You are part of a high performing team in charge of the continuous development and implementation of the Roche Diagnostics strategy with the aim to ensure it stays relevant and reflects the latest market developments and trends as well as to successfully realise it.

You will be one of two strategy business partners for Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS). This unit is globally responsible for the Roche Diagnostics’ global product offering for labs and includes among others four Customer Areas, Research & Development, Clinical Development & Medical Affairs, and Global Customer Support.

With your expertise and focus on the laboratory markets, you have the opportunity to shape and steer strategy activities focused on RDS, co-lead the development of the strategic plan(s) for RDS and its units based on the Diagnostics Strategy, and lead strategic initiatives. You will collaborate closely with different functions and teams in RDS and beyond as well as with a broad variety of senior stakeholders, in particular the RDS Leadership Team.

For the RDS Strategy Lead, expected areas of accountability would include, but are not necessarily limited to those outlined below

  • Lead the further and continuous development of the Roche Diagnostics strategy with particular focus on our lab customers, solutions, priority disease area networks and medical value

  • Co-create the strategic plan(s) for RDS, RDS Customer Areas and Functions, including defining strategic priorities, objectives and action plans

  • Lead key divisional and RDS strategic initiatives

  • Ensure a smooth Divisional operating model design with seamless interfaces to other parts of the organisation

  • Provide thought-leadership and direction

The RDS Strategy Lead will be expected to demonstrate the We@RD dimensions and help evolve the functions culture beliefs and bring We@RocheDiagnostics to life, as part of the transformation journey of Diagnostics (TransformD).


Who you are

You have a University degree in a relevant discipline, typically with 10+ years of experience, preferably operating in areas relevant to Diagnostics. You bring expertise and experience in strategy development and implementation in a global, large scale organisation (e.g., in a strategy consultancy company or within a corporate strategy department). A solid understanding of the healthcare sector, Diagnostics industry and the lab sector, is mandatory. Established strong personal network across different RDS teams and preferably across broader parts of Roche Diagnostics.

In addition, you bring the following experience and competencies

  • Strong leadership experience building and leading diverse, global teams, and matrix leadership at enterprise-level, with practical experience of structuring large programs and coordinating teams

  • Structured thinking and proven problem-solving skills

  • Highly developed stakeholder management and people influencing skills, promoting a culture of trust with strong interpersonal skills, work effectively with partners and stakeholders at different levels

  • Ability to work in a dynamic transformation and in a fast-moving and agile environment with a good understanding and application of agile methodologies and ways-of-working

  • Capability and desire to role model We@RocheDiagnostics in your work bringing this to life across all engagement activities

Please note that up to 25% of the time international business travel may be required depending upon the business location of the jobholder and ongoing business project activities.
