If you like making a difference, we are the company for you! Arxada is looking for a Senior Environmental Chemist(50 – 100%) based in Visp, Switzerland. As the expert for environmental, sustainability and waste, you will be responsible for advising stakeholders on internal and external issues and requirements relating to environment and sustainability topics relevant for the site Visp. You will manage regular on-site inspections and lead environmental trainings. In this role you will provide technical support to stakeholders in all aspects of incident investigations and for reporting to the various specialist departments.Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for advising and supporting the production plants on wastewater and waste disposal
  • Periodic review of existing disposal concepts
  • Define strategies for early identification and reduction of pollutant inputs from operations to wastewater
  • Informing operations and R&D about environmental concerns, new/adjusted limit values of substances or amended directives
  • Support in production processes with regard to environmental protection aspects as well as in the preparation of possible disposal concepts
  • Participation in risk assessments, incident investigations and audits
  • Providing environmental protection on-call duties (approx. 6 weeks per year) as well as assistance with environmentally relevant incidents, communication and the clarification of causes
  • Authoring of reports pertaining environmental issues
  • Devising environmental KPIs as well as reporting and record keeping
  • Maintenance of the software database (Envizi) regarding sustainability key figures
Key Requirements:
  • MSc. degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences or Chemistry
  • Fluent in German and English
  • At least 5 years professional experience in the related work field preferably in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry
  • High social competence with the ability to find solutions together with work colleagues on different hierarchy levels
  • Convincing personality with role model function and positive attitude
