In Bern, about 350 people of over 20 nationalities work together with the wider Janssen organization and partners on the development, manufacturing and analytical testing of novel vaccines and bacteria-based pharmaceutical products and therapies.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering and technical support for complex production and process equipment for Operations (/500 process equipments)
  • Develop process excellence techniques to identify systematic issues. Track trends, develop and implement equipment and/or process enhancements that will improve efficiency, product yield, and equipment reliability.
  • Lead in troubleshooting and resolving equipment, systems, and process problems to prevent the occurrence of product and process nonconformities.
  • 2nd line troubleshooter and owner for 1st line medium to high impact invest.
  • Owner of allocated ETS record (incl. CC’s)
  • Review evaluations and advice on the selection of suitable equipment for optimized, balanced line performance and makes final recommendations to management.
  • Generate capital equipment appropriations required for new process implementation and controls expenditures to ensure compliance with timing and budget requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership of cross functional teams (Technical Services/QA) on installation & qualification of new equipments within GMP Operations
  • Perform complex technical work including the design, manufacture and operation of equipments and systems.
  • Support process and system owners on design and characterization of new innovative & prototype equipments and processes
  • Provide technical expertise across a broad range of engineering areas.
  • Perform in depth vendor and equipment analysis for engineers to determine cost effective and high-quality design and tooling.
  • Support GMP Operations SAP to update equipment repair histories, provide technical data updates, and input necessary changes to equipment bill of materials.
  • Support users on spare part management: Review and approve proposed machinery spare parts changes including additions to the spare parts lists and spares for new equipment.
  • Support the creation, processing, and closing of Quality Issues and Change Controls related to production equipment.
Who We Are Looking For
  • University degree in Engineering or natural Sciences discipline
  • Practical experience in technical support of manufacturing facilities including aseptic manufacturing areas and infrastructures
  • Knowledge of GMP-requirements and their technical implementation in cleanrooms and health, work & safety and environment requirements are an advantage
  • Experience in project management
  • Good communication in German and English
  • Good PC-skills, enjoy working with IT-Systems
  • Initiative and team-oriented personality with strong communication skills
