Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Your responsibilities

The AFCS Lead Engineer Is Responsible For
  • Leading AFCS activities related to requirements specification, project development and System Validation and Verification.
  • Working with other helicopter teams (Avionics, Flight Control, Engine) to correctly interface the AFCS System with relevant systems.
  • System design of AFCS control laws for Stability Augmentation System (SAS), basic (Basic Modes) and advanced functionalities (FD Upper Modes) to improve aircraft handling qualities.
  • Defining together with flight test team the AFCS Flight Test Plan.
  • Analysing the Flight Test data for problems investigation and optimization of helicopter’s dynamic and handling qualities.
  • Assuring compliance of the AFCS with applicable certification requirements.
Tasks
  • Design AFCS system in accordance with applicable aircraft requirement.
  • Implement closed loop test at avionics test bench, perform system test at bench, investigate/solve open problem reports and take action to resolve test discrepancies.
  • Technical focal point for the AFCS testing and in flight tuning.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications and technical reports.
  • Support of make-or-buy decisions, based on market studies.
  • Advising on how to resolve technical problems that would affect cost, schedule and system performance.
  • Manage suppliers from a technical point of view assuring on time delivery to meet company milestones.
  • Working closely with leadership functions (Chief Engineers and Team Leaders) and other subject matter experts to support design review.
  • Decision of technical issues and certification approach, in practical and timely manner.
  • Support Flight Test department in scheduling development and certification flight test campaign schedule.
Your qualifications

Competencies
  • Hold a university degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with EASA (CS-27/ CS-29) and/or FAA certification process and requirements.
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification DO-160.
  • Familiarity with airborne software and hardware development DO-178 and DO-254.
  • Good English language skills, both verbal and in writing.
  • Quick learner with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multinational team.
Experience
  • At least 5 to 10 years of experience in AFCS development and design (according to SAE ARP4754A, DO-178, DO-254, DO-160) through the product life cycle for rotary wings aircraft.
  • Experience of AFCS Hardware & Software integration and qualification.
  • Experience of AFCS flight test data analysis and quick problem solving.
  • Experience of AFCS certification (CS-27 or CS-29).
