As Business Development Manager Biogas New Markets, you will report to the VP Biogas. You will be responsible for the Business Development of the Biogas Business in VARO (one of our five strategic pillars) for New Markets that includes but not limited to Poland, Spain and East European Countries.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Seek for new opportunities to acquire or invest into Biogas plants or Biogas projects, in order to achieve our Biogas Target of 1.3TWh/y by 2026.
- Contract and Manage 3rd party project developers to help in achieving our targets
- Engage as a deal maker with the different opportunities
- Manage the investment process until FID
- Funnel off-take opportunities to our trading team
- Ensure the opportunities delivers the expected EBITDA through cross-functional coordination
- Develop strong relationships with the biogas market: project developers, feedstock suppliers and other stakeholders (regulators, local communities, biogas associations)
- Support the Biogas Strategy with your specific market input
- Remain informed on latest regulations and share with the team
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for your markets and advise Varo on its decarbonisation journey
- Develop the Varo brand by attending conferences and speaking at events
Your profile
- More than 7 years experience in Deal Making, Business Development, Commercial roles in the Energy sector, preferably in biogas
Deep understanding of the energy transition and its regulations
Further knowledge
- Outstanding team player and leadership skills
- Result-oriented and “hands-on” mentality with capacity to go into the details and also to take a more helicopter view
- Curious, fast learner.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive management of challenges and opportunities
- Excellent analytical thinking and ability to explain complicated projects to business-minded / entrepreneurial people
- Capacity to listen to and challenge existing views
- Intercultural competence
- Excellent English language skills (spoken and written), German, French or Dutch would be a plus
- A professional and very well connected work environment with a young and international Team in a growing company
