The Position

The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for assisting in the planning, scheduling, and monitoring the progress of projects to ensure they are completed within budget and on time. Working closely with different project teams and Varo stakeholders, this includes developing and maintaining project schedules, tracking project progress, monitoring project costs, analyzing project performance, development and communication of project progress reporting and ensures adherence to project budgets and financial control compliances.

The Project Controls Specialist will also contribute to the ongoing development of PDS and ensure project compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using project management software
  • Monitor project progress and report on deviations from the project schedule
  • Prepare and distribute project status reports to stakeholders
  • Analyze project performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Track project costs and report on variances from the budget
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and resolve scheduling and budgeting issues
  • Support project managers in the preparation of project budgets and forecasts
  • Contribute to the development of PDS standard, guides, and templates including integration and single standard alignment to different entities within Varo.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in project controls, project management, or related field
  • Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • PMP certification or similar project management certification would be considered an asset
  • Experience in construction or engineering projects
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management methodologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
