Introduction

As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a senior architect with a broad background in application development in general and specific experience in the development of cloud-native applications. The candidate helps our clients to architect, develop and re-engineer applications to leverage advantages of the cloud. In this position, the Architect is passionate in building solutions with our clients that make best use of Cloud features such as elasticity, automation, global scale and high availability.

We are looking for hands-on application architects and developers who will:

• Work as technical leaders alongside customer business, development and infrastructure teams
• Facilitate technical decision-making with IT executives to help enterprises speed their adoption of new technologies and practices
• Architect and build highly scalable, cloud-native applications on cloud platforms using core developer services
• Design and build applications using Container and serverless technologies
• Leverage new technology paradigms (e.g., serverless, containers, microservices)
• Migrate monolithic applications to micro services architectures

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Good experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and automated deployment
• Advise on implementing cloud-native application development best practices
• Experience in architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing and horizontal scalability
• Extensive experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, .NET or C#
• Configuration Management platforms (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Ansible and Terraform)
• Strong practical application development experience on Linux and Windows-based systems
• Presenting at public events such as technology conferences, hackathons, etc.
• Experience in working directly with customers, partners or third-party developers

French & English: Fluent, German is a plus

This position currently sits within Global Technology Services (GTS) Infrastructure Services (IS) or a shared services function supporting GTS.
