Novartis has become the industry leader in RLT after the acquisition of Advanced Accelerator Applications (AAA) and Endocyte in 2018, together with other significant investments to advance radioligand research. Novartis Oncology is now developing a wide range of targeted RLTs for oncology with a rich pipeline targeting multiple tumor types developing therapeutics for millions of patients.
Help us bring innovative drugs to the clinic by translating multi-dimensional molecular data (‘omics) into target identification, drug development, patient biomarker discovery and back-translation.
The Oncology Data Science team at Novartis Biomedical Research Oncology is seeking an enthusiastic Research Scientist in Data Science with curiosity about target identification and drug development to support our ground-breaking Radio Ligand Therapy drug discovery programs.
Your key responsibilities:
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams of wet lab and dry lab experts to design, analyze and interpret high-dimensional biological data (e.g. bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq) to inform critical project decision.
- Application of bioinformatics and machine learning methods across multiple datasets of different origins to gain novel and actionable biological insights.
- Development of innovative analytic approaches for new technologies and to integrate and visualize complex datasets.
- Contribution to Oncology research efforts by applying data mining and genomic profiling to discover novel targets, elucidate drug mechanism of action and stratify clinical trial patients.
- Communication of key findings to diverse group of scientists.

Role Requirements
What you’ll bring to the team:
- MSc. in bioinformatics, computer science, or related field, with two years of relevant experience.
- Fluency in one or more programming languages with bioinformatics applications (e.g. Python, R); knowledge of UNIX/Linux to manage your working environment, use of version control, reproducible workflows.
- Experience in processing, analyzing, visualizing multidimensional omics datasets (I.e. transcriptomics, single cell omics).
- Knowledge of cancer genomics, cancer cellular addressing, proteomics and/or immuno-oncology is helpful.
- Effective communication of complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Curiosity, creativity and drive towards solutions when facing scientific challenges.
- Fluency in English (oral/written).
