Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Head, Occupational Health (OHU), and with the support of

the OHU Administrative Assistant, the incumbent is responsible for the Geneva staff’s

vaccination update, for their volunteer cardio-vascular risk factors screening and for the related

information campaign.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Welcome Geneva’s staff and visitors in OHU and refer mental health cases to the Staff

Welfare Officer.

2. Provide minor care (i.e.: wound care; blood pressure control) for Geneva’s staff and visitors

(keep a register); refer other cases to the Head medical officer of OHU (with staff’s medical file).

3. Proceed to travel vaccination following the recommendations of the Head, OHU.

4. Proceed to the yearly Flu Vaccination Campaign and update other vaccinations as may be

needed.

5. Propose cardiovascular risk factor screening including blood pressure, glycemia, weight,

height, BMI and waist measurements). Follow up on patient with such risk.

6. Discuss effects of tobacco and sedentarity.

7. Keep a hardcopy of the updated vaccination record; Hand out information about Flu to staff

vaccinated.

8. List clearly (name, date and references) the vaccinations administered to staff and update the

staff’s travel vaccination card VC (name, date and references of vaccine administered). Give a

copy of the VC to the OHU Admin Assistant for her to enter in the e-OH System.

9. Enter the staff’s measurements on a paper table – have it scanned to the OHU Admin

Assistant and Staff. Compare with previous measures.

10. Provide information/documents to staff regarding their results.

11. Advise staff to get further follow up according to results; list their names, type of problem

and recommendation given. Submit the list to the Admin Assistant who will plan request of

follow up.

Tangible and Measurable Outputs of the Work Assignment

  • Effective vaccination of 100 staff members in Headquarters against the flu.

Realistic Delivery Dates and Details as to how the work must be delivered

  • 30 days: Effectively vaccinate 100 staff members in Headquarters against the flu.

Performance indicators for evaluation of results

  • Deliverables carried out according to timelines outlined above.
  • Final deliverables reflect inputs of all parties consulted.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education

Accreditation as a qualified nurse in Switzerland, with a minimum of five years’ experience in an

international organization, hospital and/or private sector.

Experience

  • Experience in the domain of occupational health, family general practice or emergency an

asset;

  • Experience in data collection.

Skills

  • Knowledge of the use of Excel tables;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Tact and discretion;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results;
  • Ability to work independently and organize his/her own work;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team and with colleagues from varied

cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

For this position, fluency in English and working knowledge of French is required (oral and

written). Working knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process,

which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

The consultant must adhere to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Data

Protection Principles (IN/138) and maintain confidentiality.

The consultant will be responsible to follow IOM writing guidelines and latest glossaries in all

given assignments for accurate translation.

  • Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
